CHARACTER NAME: Lotor.
AGE: Around 10,000 years old.
CANON Voltron: Legendary Defender.
CANON POINT 5x06: The White Lion.
HISTORY: Lotor's Wiki.
PERSONALITY: Lotor was born into royalty; the Crowned Prince of the Galran Empire. But for a race of general elitists, Lotor is a unique specimen. He is not entirely Galran; he embraces his Altean heritage far more than his Galran blood; and, perhaps most importantly, he doesn't seem to have much interest in subjugating others for the betterment of the Galran Empire. On the surface, Lotor seems to be the perfect ostracized prince -- his father hates him, his mother is focused on the greatness of the Empire, and Lotor is left to rebuild the Empire in his own model. Cue the pomp and circumstance of a prince risen to greatness because he does not want to become his parents, and he wants to turn a tyrannical regime into one of blissful paradise.
However, all of that would depend on one crucial character trait: that Lotor is a good person. Lotor is many things: brilliant, tactical, obsessive, strong, charming, sly, and persuasive . . . but he is definitely not, by standard definition, a "good person."
While Lotor's genuine disdain for the brutal rulings of his father, Zarkon, does earn him a quick bout of trust with the Paladins of Voltron, he is shown to be brutal in his own ways. Lotor does not spare people for free; rather, he is willing to spare individuals in exchange for their loyalty and trust. The concept of loyalty is of great importance to him; oddly, perhaps, given Lotor's penchant for hiding the truth and misconstruing his true intentions to everyone around him in order to obtain their trust. He takes the loyalty of his generals very seriously, but Lotor is quick to kill those who have betrayed him, particularly if he feels their talking will jeopardize the mission. That being said, Lotor prefers diplomacy and politics over the hard brutal hand of his forefathers; he would much rather have a discussion with the enemy than shoot them. Allies are much more useful alive than dead.
He is hard to read, at the best of times. He is a skilled tactician, recognizing when to retreat versus when to fight -- something that puts him, again, in stark contrast with the rest of his species. Lotor also doesn't place very much importance on the purity of Galran blood (likely due to his own half-breed status, in the eyes of his father) and tends to judge people based on ability, rather than status. He is patient, constantly playing a game of cat and mouse with those around him -- from his generals, who Lotor seems to genuinely trust, to the Paladins of Voltron, who Lotor seems to genuinely need in order to accomplish his mission. At the end of the day, the end game is what matters. Lotor must access boundless quintessence in order to accomplish his vision of the universe, and if he must align himself with Voltron to do it, he will do it.
He is studious, almost to the point of obsession, with his Altean history. Lotor seems to hate his Galran half, though by extension, also seems to want to change it into something more sophisticated. His vision for his Empire is one of relative peace, with him at the helm, and season six of Voltron shows just how far he is willing to go in order to maintain this vision. He disagrees vehemently with Zarkon's destruction of the universe, and Lotor seems to enjoy the Altean version of history -- of peace, of history, and of knowledge. His obsession with his mother's side, and his reverence of Altean culture, leads him down several rabbit holes (both literal and metaphoral) in the pursuit of something that may not even be real. None of this seems to matter, though, so long as -- again -- the ends justify the means.
At Lotor's current canon point, he is solidified in his position with the Paladins of Voltron, has gained a powerful ally in Allura, and is on the precipice of something great. . . so he believes, anyway. He believes he is chosen for a great mission to reform the Galran Empire into something that could be fantastic. Whether or not he succeeds is another story entirely.
CANON POWERS: Lotor is half-Galra, half-Altean, and possesses gifts from both races! The biggest "canon power" he has is an absurd amount of enhanced strength. While slight in frame and even a bit thin, Lotor can hold his own in brute strength. His strength will be nerfed to that of an Olympic-level athlete, so he won't be able to throw creatures like Zarkon across the moon anymore. #sad.
In addition, Lotor also has an abnormally long life thanks to his batshit insane parents who thought going into a quintessence field was a good idea??? From his Wiki: "According to series staff, Lotor is 10,000 years old because he was already conceived by the time Honerva entered the rift on Daibazaal. He was born after she became Haggar and admits to living several centuries' worth of time. The exposure to Quintessence of the rift, which has become part of his DNA, allows him to retain a youthful appearance, as his body ages at a much slower rate than other Galra." So that's cool.
Also he's double-jointed. Because. That's a super power I guess.
OTHER: Lotor has the best hype squad.

CRAU INFO: N/A.
MAGIC ABILITY: Telekinesis! Lotor will be able to move things/objects with his mind. The power will develop slowly over time, kind of like Luke's usage of the Force -- he won't be able to lift an X-WING right off the bat, but with practice, he'll get there! For now, he will be limited to lifting objects up to 5 pounds with no effort at all, with a maximum of 20 pounds with a massive amount of mental effort. His stamina will be eroded the more he uses it throughout the day.
ANY WEAPONS/MAGICAL ITEMS?: Lotor has a sword that extends from the hilt whenever he needs it, seemingly from a mechanical function. He will retain it just in sword form in order to maintain conformity with other weapons of the like! From his wiki: "Lotor's personal weapon is an oddity among his people: unlike the single-edged backswords that are normal among the Galra, Lotor favors a double-edged blade with a guard that angles downward toward the hilt, resembling an Altean broadsword. This blade is also incredibly durable, able to cut through standard-issue Galran swords with no visible wear or tear, and is incredibly fine tuned to Lotor, allowing him to wield it like an extension of his body."
ANY PETS?: Lotor has no pets. He would probably kill them if he did.
